2020 Alchemy Ark Ti
The cycling world is generally made up of two types of people: those who love Ti bikes, and those who have never ridden one. The Alchemy Ark Ti hardtail mountain bike is here to help members of both camps. It is a gorgeous dream bike for anyone in the former group, and an epiphany waiting to happen for those folks still in the latter.
Alchemy prides itself on the quality and craftsmanship of its titanium bikes. They have been making them from the company’s inception and the Ark Ti gets all the benefit of their combined experience. Hand-made in Colorado, the Ark Ti is the type of hardtail that you will be able to roll up to a group trail ride, and never feel like you won’t have the equipment to keep up with the heavy duty trail folks. In fact, you’ll likely smoke them on the climbs and then feel perfectly comfortable to rail their lines on the descents.
It has been designed around a 120-130mm fork, which will give you a 68-degree head angle and 74.5-degree seat angle when using a 120mm fork. That combined with the wheelbase offers a modern geometry to suit even the slackest riders. The material that Alchemy uses is proprietary US-made 3/2.5 titanium tubing that has been beautifully welded to create a frame that doses out the rigidity and compliance in just the right amounts at exactly the right time.
And Alchemy has cleverly taken a leaf out of the Ronin gravel bike design and shaped the seatstays and chainstays to provide tons of space for the wheel clearance as well as that all important rear triangle compliance in the bumps. They have also been able to play with the thickness of the tubes to offer that mix of comfort and stiffness. The flared downtube for instance allows the bottom bracket to beef up and ensure the rigidity will provide the responsive acceleration that we all love in our hardtails.
The Alchemy Ark Ti hardtail mountain bike will fit 29×2.5? or 27.5×2.8? tires. Custom paint jobs and even customized geometry is all available as well, though the four stock sizes will likely accommodate the vast majority of Ti lovers out there. This is a mountain bike that will make you feel like playing on the trails from sun up to sun down.
