2020 Devinci Spartan 29
If a carbon enduro bike is a little too rich for your blood, or perhaps you like the no nonsense durability you get with high quality aluminum, then the Devinci Spartan 29 handcrafted in Canada using Aluminum Optimum G04 is for you.
Those alu names and numbers might not mean much to the general rider, but it indicates that this frame has been made from a special blend of 6066-T6 aluminum combined with state-of-the-art triple butting to create the type of lightweight tubing that will still be able to stand up to the harshest rides. Using high pressure hydroforming and a tapered CNC-machined headtube ensures there is not excess material to add weight, while enhancing the stiffness and durability. Aside from the frame material, this 29er has the same big-hit-ready travel and aggressive geometry that will make it an ideal choice for your trips to whistler. Similar to the carbon, you’ll get the asymmetrical design of the frame to avoid those torsional pressures that will absorb your power before it hits the trail.
With a 170mm travel fork and 165mm in the rear, combined with the 29 inch hoops that can sport up to 2.5 inch tires, this is a thrasher for any rider who loves to push the limits. The geometry has been designed to be aggressive without throwing over the edge. The modern geo can be adjusted to a high or low position using the adjustable flip chip. The flip flop pivot mechanism will make it so that you can lower your position to make it quick and aggressive at low speeds and epically stable when you are slashing it on a steep downhill run. Yet thanks to the seat angle you’ll feel comfortable and even agile on the climbs.
The SuperBoost Plus spacing keeps the chainstays shorter to increase the tire clearance. You can also fit up to a 38 tooth ring on this rig because of it. And then the split pivot design makes it possible to separate the acceleration forces from the braking forces, which means your rear tire will track the trail like magic, making sure no pedal stroke is lost and keeping you in complete control. The low standover height will do its bit to keep you planted since the low center of gravity will improve handling and make it easier for you to maneuver your body around as you negotiate obstacles. The fact that you can fit a 170mm dropper post on the sizes L and XL will also help keep you free from interference. For size small you’ll be limited to 125mm post, and medium they recommend a 150mm with a RockShox dropper post. You’ll still have plenty of room to move, though.
The Devinci Spartan 29 is an enduro machine that can cope with tough DH courses while still being versatile enough for an all mountain day. It will be super fun and encourage you to push your speed over those rough rock gardens. Available as a frame or with multiple build options.
