2020 Knolly Fugitive LT
If you love taking on the toughest trails offering big hits in quick succession, then you’ll love the look and feel of the Knolly Fugitive LT. It has the same nifty innovations that the regular Fugitive has, but comes with some bigger travel, namely 135mm for the rear suspension which will pair perfectly with a 150mm fork.
So this long travel version of the Fugitive can do everything just like the regular Fugitive, and then some. Both frames offer two geometry positions to be able to adapt to different terrain, whether you are huffing up a climb or attacking a descent. Both bikes fall in the all-mountain adventure category for Knolly, but with this Fugitive LT that has an extra 15mm of rear suspension, you can be even more adventurous since there will be hardly a trail pitch that you won’t feel well able to negotiate. This is a bike that you will feel comfortable exploring new trails since you can count on handling whatever you come up against. Knolly has dedicated tons of research and rethinking to create the Fugitive LT to guarantee the perfect mix of traction and pedaling efficiency that will make every trail a total joy. Descend with confidence and climb without feeling like it’s a huge slog. The stability and control will just help you flow through the trails that much faster.
The frame is made from hydroformed 6066 aluminum to get that perfect balance between weight savings and durability, and they are relying still on their Fourby4 suspension linkage. They are quite rightly proud of this system which they developed inhouse. It might look a little more complicated, but what the double linkage allows them to fine tune each bike for the type of trails it’ll be hitting. The lower linkage controls the rear wheel axle path, and the upper linkage controls the shock progression keeping the suspension progressive and efficient. For the rear pivots, together with a company called Igus, they have developed pivot bushings rotating on dual row angular contact bearings held together by bespoke titanium pivot hardware and custom oversized CNC’d axles. This ensure everything works incredibly smoothly and remains durable.
The Fugitive LT provides evidence again of how the engineers at Knolly really aren’t bothered with how things are normally done, and would rather find the best solutions for the ultimate ride experiences. In the case of their rear dropouts, they fly in the face of the proliferation of Boost-oriented bikes with their 157Trail. It means that they are using 157x12mm rear spacing largely thanks to the fact that their Fourby4 suspension accommodates the use of wide flange 157 hubs with a threaded 73mm BB shell. This will offer better tire clearance than the 148mm Boost, and will mean that you can run a 29” wheel with up to 2.6” tires or 27.5+ wheels with a burly 3.25” tires without sacrificing your bottom bracket height.
For all the finishing touches of the LT, Knolly uses fully internal cable routing with a frame design that will keep them from rattling irritatingly over rough trails. The doors are big for easy installation, and the rubber ports can handle 4mm, 5mm, and Di2 housings. They have also developed an Integrated Frame Protector on the bottom of the down tube to protect the frame and cleverly act as a place to stow the Di2 battery safely.
The Knolly Fugitive LT will give you the balanced performance that will help you forget everything but how you want to carve your next berm.
